Kraftwerk Bring the Machine Age to The Piece Hall in 2027

There are few bands more perfectly suited to The Piece Hall than Kraftwerk. Georgian stone, open Yorkshire sky and four figures operating inside a wall of light: Halifax is getting one of the most distinctive live shows in modern music.
The Piece Hall has confirmed that the Düsseldorf electronic pioneers will headline its courtyard on Tuesday 22 June 2027. Doors open at 6pm, last entry is 8pm and the show is scheduled to finish at approximately 10.30pm.
Tickets: the important bit
General sale opens at 10am on Friday 23 October 2026. Promoter Cuffe & Taylor also lists presales from 10am today, Thursday 22 October. As ever with a major Piece Hall announcement, availability can change quickly, so use an official outlet and check the live ticket page rather than relying on a shared screenshot.
A live show built for the space
Kraftwerk began in Düsseldorf in 1970, founded by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider. Their electronic sound, synthetic voices, programmed rhythms and fascination with transport, technology and modern life did not simply produce a run of influential records; it helped redraw the map for electro, synth-pop, techno and hip-hop.
That history matters, but this is not a museum-piece booking. The present-day Kraftwerk concert joins music, computer animation and performance art into one tightly controlled multimedia production. In a conventional arena it can feel clinical and futuristic. Set against The Piece Hall’s 18th-century colonnades, the contrast should be spectacular.
The official Kraftwerk concert calendar currently lists Halifax on 22 June and Cardiff Castle on 23 June as its confirmed 2027 dates. The Halifax appearance therefore arrives with the feel of a destination show, rather than another stop on a long run of British arenas.
From robots to the Rock Hall
Kraftwerk’s reach is difficult to overstate without slipping into grand claims, so the cleanest measure is the trail they left behind: electronic pop learned from them, early hip-hop sampled and reworked them, and generations of dance producers treated their records as a starting point. The group received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 and entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
The visual language is just as recognisable. Red shirts, black ties, mannequin doubles, grids, numbers and machines have become part of the Kraftwerk vocabulary. The official promoter image for Halifax places the performers beneath a huge green digital display — a useful warning that this will be as much to watch as to hear.
The practical details
Kraftwerk — Live at The Piece Hall takes place on Tuesday 22 June 2027 at The Piece Hall, Blackledge, Halifax HX1 1RE. Doors are at 6pm; last entry is 8pm; the expected finish is 10.30pm.
Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult and children under six are not permitted. The Piece Hall also confirms that the show will be BSL interpreted. Booking fees apply, and the official ticket listing states a maximum of six tickets per person and household.
Kraftwerk join an already busy 2027 Piece Hall season. Monkey has previously covered Bananarama, Tony Hadley and Altered Images bringing their ’80s party to Halifax — but this new booking takes the summer in a completely different direction.
