Scouting For Girls Sell Out Wembley — and Their 20th Birthday Party Is Getting Bigger

There are some bands that drift quietly towards a big anniversary. Scouting For Girls, thankfully, are not one of them.

The Monkey GigsList favourites are heading towards their 20th anniversary with the kind of momentum most bands would happily take at year two: their OVO Arena Wembley show on 13 February 2027 has sold out around five months in advance, while Manchester’s AO Arena follows on 12 February with The Hoosiers joining them at both arena dates.

Twenty years — and still selling bigger rooms

The Wembley sell-out has prompted the band to add a run of smaller warm-up shows before the arena celebrations, including Belfast Limelight on 28 January, Dublin Academy on 29 January, Glasgow Barrowland on 4 February and Cardiff Tramshed on 5 February 2027.

Before all that, there is another chance to catch them this week: Scouting For Girls play Keele Students’ Union on Thursday 24 September 2026, with Lissy Taylor among the support. It comes after a busy summer that included Yorkshire appearances at Tileyard North in Wakefield and Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster.

Why Monkey still has a soft spot for them

Anyone who has followed Monkey for a while will know Scouting For Girls are firmly in the ‘we’ll always pay attention’ category. But this isn’t nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake. Twenty years into the story, the band are still putting new music out, still touring hard and — judging by Wembley disappearing five months early — still finding an audience that wants a proper night of uncomplicated, arms-in-the-air pop.

Their 2026 album These Are The Good Days arrived in March, following the single Don’t You Go Solo, and the anniversary shows now give that new chapter a suitably enormous punctuation mark.

There is plenty happening closer to home too. Parish’s September programme rolls on with The Fluffy Machine on Wednesday 23 September, followed by Nontaines D.C at Parish and No Hope Society with Type 72 at AMPED on Friday 25 September.

Monkey Supporter spotlight: Weavers Shed

And a nod to one of the venues that directly supports Monkey GigsList: Weavers Shed in Golcar hosts Soul on Wednesday on 23 September. The advertised session runs from 2pm to 7pm, with the organisers reporting strong turnouts for the previous Wednesday afternoons. If daytime soul, a drink and a dance sounds more appealing than another afternoon staring at a screen, you know what to do.

Monkey verdict? Scouting For Girls may be approaching twenty, but retirement clearly hasn’t made it onto the setlist. Wembley sold out, more dates added, new music in circulation and another huge year already taking shape — that’ll do nicely.
